New Parent Resource at Serves as a One-Stop Shop with Critical Information, Training and Important Steps to Prepare for Upcoming School Year; District is Expanding Grab-and-Go Meal Program Starting on the First Day of School


CHICAGO – To help families prepare to start the school year remotely on Tuesday, September 8, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) today launched — a new parent resource that centralizes important information related to the upcoming school year.

“As we prepare to start off the school year remotely, we're committed to working with our families to ensure a successful start to the school year on Tuesday, September 8,” said CPS CEO Dr. Janice K. Jackson. “This will be a school year unlike any other — and there will be challenges — but ensuring that families have the resources and support to navigate remote learning is the right place to start so students continue to learn and engage.”

Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) is allocating funds to renters and homeowners who have been financially affected by COVID-19. If your residents are unable to pay their rent or mortgage due to COVID-19, they may be eligible for relief funds.

Rental assistance up to $5,000. Applications open from August 10-21.
(May close sooner based on number of applicants)
